B.A. (Sociology and Urban Studies, York U.), M.Sc.(Demography, U. Montr\u00e9al) and Ph.D. (U. Montr\u00e9al) taught sociology and held a Canada Research Chair in Technology and Culture at Acadia University in Nova Scotia (1998-2006)before joining the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University in 2006. She was a pre-doctoral research fellow at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. and a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre de sociologie de l&#8217;innovation, l&#8217;\u00e9cole des Mines, Paris. During a sabbatical in 2004-05 she was based at the Chemical Heritage Society in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>Her current research projects focus on arts networks, cultural heritage institutions, collective memory, changing forms of creative work, technological innovation and trans-disciplinary collaboration. She has served on the board of arts research groups in l&#8217;association internationale de sociologues de langue fran\u00e7aise (GR18), the International Sociological Association (RC37), and is a member of the International Advisory Board of\u00a0<em>Cultural Sociology.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">&nbsp; Jan Marontate, Hon.
